Community Involvement – Metairie, LA

At Nelson Dental Care, we believe in giving back to our communities. Our dentist and team members regularly volunteer their time and talents in support of community organizations and events as well as offering funding and support for a number of charities dedicated to making Metairie a great place to live and work. We take our commitment to service seriously both in the office and out We’d love to see you at one of our community events soon. Our families, friends, and neighbors in Metairie and surrounding communities do so much every day to keep us smiling, it only seems right to give back. Every member of the Nelson Dental Care team is committed to giving back. Whether it’s financial support, volunteer hours, dental health education, or participation in community events, we are always doing our utmost to make Metairie a great place for all of our families to live and work.

Special Olympics

Dr. Nelson and his team helped volunteer to do free dental screenings and make athletic mouthguards for the athletes at the Special Olympics as part of the Special Smiles program.

Candy Buy Back at Halloween

Kids love trick or treating, but most parents aren’t big fans of the buckets of candy that come home with them. Instead of letting your kids gorge themselves on holiday candy or staring at bowls of candy for the next several months, bring your children’s Halloween candy to our office. We participate in the Halloween Candy Buy Back program every year. Not only does it reduce our young patients’ consumption of candy and improve their oral health, we also use the candy for a good cause. It is sent to US military men and women as part of care packages. It’s a win for everyone.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

We are proud sponsors of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Each year, this event takes place in cities across the US in order raise awareness and funding for research and treatments to end breast cancer. We encourage our patients, friends, and family members to join us each year for this fun event that just happens to provide support for a very important cause!

Second Harvest Food Bank

The Second Harvest Food Bank is the largest provider of food access for families at risk of hunger across southern Louisiana. In Louisiana, one of five households are at risk of hunger and the constantly rising cost of living, high unemployment rates, and low-wage jobs mean that this serious concern will only continue to spread without the support of our community members. That’s why Nelson Dental Care is proud to support of Second Harvest Food Bank. We collect food items, offer volunteer hours, and do everything we can to ensure families in Metairie and all of Southern Louisiana receive the food they need to lead healthy lives.

Toy Drive Benefiting Children's Hospital in New Orleans

Children’s Hospital in New Orleans does important work year-round giving kids and families the gift of life with advanced medical treatments for infants and children, access to state-of-the-art medical services, and the care of a top-tier staff of highly skilled pediatric medicine specialists. Our team participates in a toy drive to provide kids at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans a little bit of cheer at a very difficult time. These gifts can help give children a reason to smile, and that’s always our goal at Nelson Dental Care of Metairie.

Free Services for Active Military & Vets  

Freedom Day USA is something we love to be involved in at Nelson Dental Care. We are proud to support our troops and are fortunate to be able to give back.
